Ground Tissue System

Return

This basically includes everything that is not part of the dermal or vascular tissue systems. The functions of the ground tissue encompass the most basic processes necessary for survival and include photosynthesis, storage, wound healing and regeneration.

The pith is the region of ground tissue located to the inside of the vascular tissue in eudicot stems.

The cortex is the region of ground tissue located to the outside of the vascular tissue in eudicot stems.

In eudicot roots the vascular tissue is located in the center, and all the ground tissue makes up the cortex.
